| Kathmandu, May 15: WorldLink, known for pioneering new Internet products and user-friendly Internet services in Nepal, introduced a series of wireless Internet services in Kathmandu on Tuesday. The new services are targeted at users living beyond the main city area who do not have access to proper telephone lines or Internet services. WorldLink, which claims to be number one Internet Service Provider (ISP) in Nepal with a giant share of 43 per cent of the ISP market, has eight offices in Kathmandu and 11 offices throughout the country. “There are several advantages to this new Internet product which works through a wireless modem. It has no telephone cost involved. It can cater to people who are deprived of proper telephone and Internet connectivity, for example in in areas around Balaju, Budhaneelkanth and Godavari,” explained Rupesh Shakya, manager sales and marketing, WorldLink Communications Pvt Ltd. The services will be accessible from most places in the valley. “The only requirement is that there should be no blockage of vision from our towers,” said Shakya. The company has four towers installed across the valley. Earlier, Internet through the wireless modem proved to be expensive and was hence mostly targeted at business ventures. But now with pricing being pared down substantially, even resident users can make use of the services. Currently, WorldLink has designed five new Internet service packages - Wi-ZOOOM Nite Lite (Regular), Wi-ZOOOM Nite Lite (Standard), Wi-ZOOOM Nite Lite (Premium), Wi-ZOOOM Hours (Residential), Wi-ZOOOM Hours (Business) with differential pricing under its established product brand called Wi-ZOOOM. While the ISP is providing these services only in Kathmandu for now, it plans to introduce it in other major cities very soon. |
